I'm going to try to rewrite the first two chapters of the LaD novel as a choose-your-own-adventure story as a simplified way of writing a complex novel. I want to know what your thoughts and input are on this, as well as what method of the following you'd prefer to see the test copy as:

a) a Powerpoint where each slide has an internal link going to the next slide you'd go to
b) a wiki/webpage that only we could see with links to each next section

I'm with 'A'. Sounds like a good idea!

I'm kinda confused as to what you mean by a choose your own adventure story...can you elaborate?

You ever read one of those books, DF, where the story is something like:

"You walk down the long hallway and suddenly spot two doors. Do you:
Go through the older looking door. (goto page 34)
Go through the door that is painted green. (goto page 56)"

I'm talking about something like that.

Oh, I get it now. In that case, the powerpoint would be your best bet, methinks.

Alright, I have finished a rough version of the first 'chapter'. It is attached to this post (I hope that works). Take a look and try out everything and anything. To advance slides DO NOT click on just anywhere. You should always click on a BLUE link, which will take you to the appropriate next slide. Not that it matters, as you only CAN click on the blue links, except the last slide.

Okay, anyway. The dialog is VERY rough right now. It's mostly just so that you can test it for a few things:
1. Format - Is this a good format? Do you want to see more of the story in this format? Or is it a lost cause?
2. Broken Links - If any of the links seem to not go to an appropriate next slide, let me know. I may have wrongly assigned links.
3. Character - Is the main character good for both guys and girls to play? The character needs to be generic enough that anyone can play him/her. Therefore, I don't specify gender.
4. Basic plot line - While I know the writing isn't very good, is the story itself good?

And, of course, anything else you can think of to comment on.

Okay, I'm just starting, and I do realize that you just said the writing is just a rough draft, but it kind of confuses me how when the man in the suit comes and asks who you are, one of the options is "I'll be there", which is a bit confusing... But of course, I haven't read these chapters, so I wouldn't know if there is some explanation...

hold on... *looks it over* Oops! Sorry... that was a mistake. I was copying the slides repeatedly to preserve formatting and forgot to change dialogue there. It's supposed to say "Yes, that's me". Just type in that line over the old one; the link will still work. Thanks for catching that!
