Nitrox barely had enough time to block the slash with his kunai claw, but the immense impact sent one spinning away. During the backlash from the contact, Nitrox tossed one kunai to his other hand and held them blade down, so the blades ran across his arms or outward, depending on how he held them. Kunai pointed outward, he aimed a punch at Alexis and tried to hit her with the kunai if he missed.

Alexis grinned as she changed her angle in mid-air to avoid the punch. A slight slash of the kunai caught her sleeve, but if she was scratched, Alexis didn't notice. She rammed the swords at Nitrox again, trying to make him drop more kunai.

((Are you flying? I'm on the ground.))
Nitrox's reactions served him well, as Alexis's blades were parried by the kunai. His grip was better since he only had to hold one kunai in each hand, which helped him a lot.
Nitrox then fired up his NX throughout his system, his eyes glowing blue. He kept on the defensive so he could build up the NX in his system.

((Can't I fly just a bit above the ground? Go with it. Alexis dodges better in the air anyway.))

Alexis noted his eyes glow brighter. Uh oh... She stepped up her attack, while building up her own energy to prepare a counter.

((That's what I thought you were doing. Just wondering.))
Nitrox made the slight motion to create an NX sphere with his left hand in order to distract Alexis, but he let a punch loose with his right hand toward her face in lightening speed.

Fortunately, Alexis had flown backwards to avoid the first attack, so the punch only clipped her jaw. She winced at the pain, but attacked again, her swords spinning more this time to try to keep Nitrox occupied.

Nitrox's hands moved faster and faster, but he took one impact with both kunai at the same time, in which both kunai spun backwards out of his hands. Fearing being defenseless, he sent a short wave of NX at Alexis to get her away from him.

Alexis landed to ground herself against the wave. The wave pushed her back a bit, but she was already working again. Taking the energy from her two swords, Alexis created a series of energy blast and began releasing them rapid fire at Nitrox.

Rintuk watched the battle from a suitable distance. He growled to himself and then turned his back on the fight. He walked across the roof that he was upon and crossed to the opposite side. He sidled up next to a heater, the warmth blowing into his fur as he curled up like any domestic canine and feigned sleep, closing his eyes and breathing evenly.

Maybe the other two would kill each other and he would win by some miracle. Rintuk snorted to himself, it might take a while, and he was bored. He just wanted some entertainment.

"Oh no you don't!" screamed Nitrox. He fired NX spheres at equal speed at every single blast Alexis launched, his accuracy infallable. His veins were pulsing with NX now, and his skin was tinted blue. It's now or never... I'll die at this usage rate... he thought.

Alexis was never one to be outdone, so she began launching more and more volatile attacks at each Nitrox. A few of the orbs began exploding, kicking up a dust cloud that soon became hard to see through. It was the glow of Nitrox's eyes that Alexis started aiming at.

Then, she got an idea. She formed a shield wall in front of herself, one that glowed with energy, and began having that energy become energy blasts. It was like she had created an automated pitching machine for her attacks. Still keeping half her focus on the shield wall, Alexis began creeping off through the smoke and dust. This had better work, or I'm out of energy.

Enough of this foolish volley! thought Nitrox. He stood sideways in order to minimize his surface area and, while blasts tore up the world around him, summoned a massive sphere of NX. Nitrox poured the remaining reserves of his NX into this bomb and thrust it at the source of the energy blasts. The smokescreen had inhibited his view, but all he had to do was aim for the source. As the bomb blew through the smoke, clearing it along the way, he let out a smile.

Alexis heard the bomb being released and took the opportunity. A small dagger of energy formed in her hand. Using Nitrox's bomb as the distraction, she ran up behind him and stabbed him, getting a fairly accurate aim so she could hit him where it counted. "Sorry, but you fell for it. See ya soon, perhaps."

Pain.
Nitrox might have been blown to shreds several times, but he has never felt so much pain. He stared down at the energy that had pierced his flesh, calculating what he did wrong. It was then that the smoke cleared and he saw a gold shield being obliterated into pieces. His mind clicked as the puzzle completed himself and allowed himself a small smile, one showing he had found a worthy opponent.
His body slid forward off of the dagger and he dissolved into pure Nitroxide. It hung there for a second or two before the shockwave from the bomb scattered the NX fragments into the wind.

Alexis stood there, her eyes closed as she let the wave of wind caused by the bomb wash over her. As soon as it was over, she opened her eyes and looked around. "Boy did we cause a mess... I feel sorry for the people who have to clean up after this." She kicked the dirt, then looked up at the sky. "Okay, Nova. What next?"
