Final Fantasy: Advent Children

Alright. Since the chatbox went off-topic rather quickly. I suppose this will be somewhat better for what I'm looking for.

Some friends and I are creating a "dream" which is a roleplaying place on a game called Furcadia (http://furcadia.com). And the theme of this dream is Final Fantasy Advent Children. It is set in the same city as Advent Children was (Edge), and ShinRa has been rebuilt.

What I need, is an interesting plotline, or a few sub-plotlines that would work well with being in the Final Fantasy VII universe. The Roleplay is taking place a few years after the events of Advent Children and Dirge of Cerberus.

One plotline that my boyfriend and I have come up with so far, is with ShinRa doing more experiments involving the Lifestream (as they like to do). But with an overlaying problem that all are having. A new type of monster (Wraiths) is now appearing and feeding on the lifestream, on the souls of the dead. And this is creating a problem for Gaia (the Final Fantasy VII planet). And at some point in the roleplay, we're thinking about having it so that Rufus Shinra becomes an experiment himself and becomes a f**king badass half-wraith half-human mutant. This will be our main villain.

I'd like to know your opinions, and what other things could possibly be good plotlines/sub-plotlines for this roleplay. :3

I'll gladly help with the plotline, because this sounds like fun.

Here is my free analysis, as a sign up bonus: The base plot you have already submitted sounds good, except for ShinRa's role:

In the Game FF7 Rufus Shinra was covertly supplying the heroes with money, weapons, and information. Likewise in AC ShinRa was activly working against Kadaj's group to keep them from poisoning the lifestream.

I would suggest a someone else as an antagonist, like Hojo or one of his research staff. Because I have a good base for the whole thing if you want me to continue.

My boyfriend says that he thought we could use Rufus Shinra as a
sort of "accidental antagonist", but he (and I) would both like to see what sort
of ideas you have. Anything that you can bring to the table is welcome, hon. :3

Allright, here is my general idea: Since ShinRa has gone and abandoned Mako research, some other country run by corrupt corporation made up of former Shinra managment, has picked up Mako research thanks to either Hojo or one of his researchers, and started a war with SinRa in Edge.
This could be where the players come in, their characters being mercenaries hired to fight against the other corporation. Which then could lead into the big adventure.

Hm.. I still like the idea of having creatures that feed off of the lifestream and causing an ulterior purpose.
Besides, we have to allow the roleplayers freedom to do as they wish. Not all of the characters
will be mercenaries hired. My own OC is going to be a sort of "secretary" or something
at ShinRa who works as a spy for her partner (my boyfriend)'s character.

We are somewhat remaking an old roleplay "dream" that had been made

The sad thing about that roleplay though, is that it revolved too much around Sephiroth. I think
that for this new roleplay there will be no Sephiroth, so that nobody can god-mode their way through
roleplays. Canons are still playable, but OCs are as well. We like having it set up this way so that people
can choose to either play their favorite character, or one of their own. There will be an official list of
characters that are involved with the roleplay, and can influence the plotline.
