Following the death of the somniac, and Zanek's disappearance our remaining heroes have been tracking the trail, and the mysterious howls until they have come upon an old cave. The cave's entrance had been hidden behind a well constructed blind made of vegetation. It is clear that whoever lives in the cave went to great lengths to hide the entrance.

magine and mhantra circle around in the sky shouting "zanek!! where are you!!! common out the somniac is gone!!"

Mira had opted to stay on the ground while Magine and Mhantra flew around. The strange howling noises intrigued her. Where there are howls, there are usually animals, right? This is MY chance to be useful. So, with that idea in mind, Mira got close to the entrance of the cave and mentally called out. Hello? Any animals in there?

(umm, i think the cave is supposed to be hidden from our characters)

((It says "...until they have come upon an old cave." Reread it.))

*glare*

((Guess I was too poetic, go in the cave, as I said the various signs they were tracking lead inside the cave behind the blind))

The howls change in pitch and frequency, as if the woods are alive and making the howls. Several pairs of red eyes flash behind Mira, and quickly disappear into the brush.

Mira turned, hearing something behind her, but saw nothing. No response except that howling. Maybe it isn't an animal?

"Whatever's there isn't anymore," said Max.
He put his palm out and a blue light lit the cave. He bent to the ground. He saw two lines leading into the cave, including various prints. "He was dragged into here, by some animal or something. Can't really tell, the prints are too faint..."

Mira frowned and motioned into the cave, as if to ask if they should go in.

mhantra lands next to them. while magine climbs off of him as he changes back into his human form. he then takes the lead heading into the cave

((Okay fastforward a bit since I had planned this to be over yesterday))

Inside the cave is narrow, too narrow for mhantra to transform. The cave floor is littered with bones, hundreds of bones, there are even the distinct bones of a Somniac. Among the gnawed bones are occasional items such as a sword or a tunic. Lying shining in the meager light of the cave is Zanek's bible.

Abruptly wolves appear out of the shadows surrounding the group. The wolves each have glowing read eyes, and are violently growling. They move to single out Mira and one pounces at her leading with sharp claws.

Mira ducked to avoid the pouncing wolf. Bad wolf! Bad wolf! She yelled at it mentally. I'm a friend! I don't want to hurt you!

Max took out his sword and assumed an attack stance. "Can you do anything about them, Mira?"

((Lex let me know if I'm going too far into Mira's thoughts))

Mira's call goes unnoticed by the wolves, and Mira can only detect snippets of the wolves. Only 'kill' comes through to Mira clearly the wolves continue their pack attack, with two wolves attacking Max from behind.

Wolves pounce at Magine and Mhantra.

Finally utilizing pack mentality the other attacks are a distraction, the three largest wolves attack Mira simultaneously.
